SEA CUCUMBERS Are SAVING The REEF With Their…Faeces
A recent study has revealed that 64,000 metric tonnes of sea cucumber faeces enters the southern Great Barrier Reef every year! This sea cucumber poo has proven to have many benefits for the reef, including aerating the upper surface of marine sediment (creating habitats for other organisms) as well as releasing crucial nutrients and calcium carbonate.
