Just Confirmed: A GIANT WOMBAT FOSSIl The Size Of A Sheep Is Real!
What was once believed to be the remains of a mysterious sheep has finally been confirmed as a giant wombat fossil!
After seven years of excavating, scientists have concluded that the skull found at Johannsen’s Cave north of Rockhampton (discovered in in the early 2000s), is a Ramsayia Magna, one of three giant wombat species known so far. Team leader, Julien Louys, explained that they are ‘about a dozen specimens across the entirety of the continent of Australia, so it’s incredibly rare!’
Hopefully one day the skull will be put on display for Australia.
