A SOUTHERN KOALA Was BORN In The UK FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER
A baby Southern Koala was born in the UK for the first time in Europe’s history. Born to mum Violet in @longleatofficial, the birth is a huge milestone in a conservation program between Longleat, not-for-profit @koalalifeau and @clelandwildlifepark in partnership with the South Australian government. Now, the carers can get a better understanding of captive breeding methodology and animal husbandry. Their goal is to increase Europe’s koala population, diversifying the gene pool and protecting them from diseases like chlamydia and retrovirus.
