There’s A MALE SEA TURTLE Shortage And It’s All Down To Climate Change…
Climate change is affecting the male sea turtle population! Fewer and fewer hatchlings are turning out to be male, ultimately putting the species at risk of survival.
Turtles have temperature-dependent sex determination (TDSD), meaning the warmer the sand, the more likely they are to hatch as females. And with current hatchling numbers sitting at 95% female, sea turtle numbers are expected to decline in coming years.
Did you know turtle hatchlings were temperature-dependent?!
