This Is How WHALE POOP Is Key To OCEAN ECOSYSTEMS
Did you know that whales are one of the most important animals for sustaining healthy ocean ecosystems? It’s all got to do with whale poop! Whales will consume huge amounts of krill and then release this waste in the water, moving massive biomasses across the ocean. This then acts as fertiliser, giving nutrients to phytoplankton that is then eaten by bigger animals, who are then eaten by even bigger animals. How interesting!
