CLIMATE CHANGE Is Cornering Southern Australian SHARKS And RAYS…Here’s How!
Global warming has caused The East Australian Current to strengthen, ultimately pushing warmer water further south and bringing tropical species with it!
A study published in the Fish and Fisheries journal found that southern sharks and rays are competing with these migrating species and are slowly being cornered into, sometimes uninhabitable, spaces.
It’s believed that as many as six endangered species (including the school shark) will be significantly impacted by these southward-migrating rivals.
