DEFORESTATION In The AMAZON RAINFOREST Has Dropped 61% THIS YEAR Alone
We’ve got good news for the environment… deforestation in the Amazon is down 61% this year alone!
Brazil’s new President, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, has introduced a string of new environmental protection laws to help curb the deforestation of the world’s largest rainforest. The Amazon plays a huge role in decarbonisation, acting as the Earth’s lungs. The trees take carbon out of the air and replace it with oxygen, helping curb climate change.
It’s too early to tell if it’s enough to reverse Brazil’s surging deforestation of 2022, but it’s a great start!
