This PROPOSED Coal Mine Is About To Clear 1,000 HECTARES OF KOALA HABITAT
There’s a new coal mine that’s been proposed in QLD, but the site is sitting on top of 1,000 hectares of koala habitat! As the proposal falls into the state government’s jurisdiction, they do not need to submit an environmental impact statement (EIS), meaning there is no environmental consideration included in their proposal. Koalas are now officially endangered in QLD, but despite this listing there isn’t any new protection against habitat loss. If this frustrates you, you should write in to Meaghan Scanlon, Queensland’s Environment Minister.
