NSW Has Just PASSED LEGISLATION That BANS Killings IN ANIMAL SHELTERS!
The NSW Government has just passed an amendment to the Companion Animals Act 1998 that clearly defines and prohibits the killing of animals in shelters out of ‘convenience’. This was spurred on following the euthanising of 15 dogs by Bourke Shire Council last August. There is now firm, enforceable legislation that will ensure councils take the necessary steps towards rehoming sheltered animals before euthanasia.
