ADIDAS Has Placed A FLOATING TENNIS COURT On The GREAT BARRIER REEF?!
Just before the Australian Open, @adidasau teamed up with @parley.tv to create a floating tennis court…on the Great Barrier Reef.
The idea behind it was to promote awareness around plastic waste, ocean contamination, how our ocean is suffering, and how to improve it.
However, the move was met with controversy and concern for its environmental impact on the reef.
Adidas worked alongside the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority to ensure that there were no environmental concerns. They have also donated the recycled plastic tennis court surface to a local school, where it will be repurposed into a sports court.
