IVF CORAL Has Just Spawned In The GREAT BARRIER REEF For The First Time!
In 2016, scientists released IVF coral babies in The Great Barrier Reef and almost six years later, 22 of these coral colonies have spawned themselves!
The initial IVF trial came after the Great Barrier Reef no longer had enough breeding corals to naturally recover. A direct result of constant bleaching as well as invasions from crown-of-thorns starfish!
The success of the IVF coral proves a promising future for coral colonies is possible!
