Are you wishcycling? If you’ve ever been on the fence about whether or not something’s recyclable and put it in the recycling bin just in case, you’ve wishcycled.
The hope is that someone at the recycling centre will catch your items if they aren’t recyclable. However, most recycling centres use machines to do this, meaning non-recyclables will either damage the machinery or sneak past them and contaminate a batch of recyclables. Just one non-recyclable item is enough to waste an entire batch of recycling.
