⛈A SLOWING OCEAN CURRENT Could Mean LA NINA Becomes The New NORM ⛈
New research has shown that a massive ocean current across the Atlantic is slowing down, and if it were to overturn it would spell floods and disaster for Australia. The current acts like a conveyor belt bringing warm water away from the tropics. However, rising temperatures and melting ice caps are slowing this current down. This has happened before in the Earth’s history, but it took tens of thousands of years across the ice ages. If it were to completely overturn, the world would move to a more La Niña-like state, but combined with rising temperatures, the impact would be even more devastating than what was seen over this summer. The process that took entire ice ages has started in just a few decades.
