There’s Been An INCREASE In FLOATING TURTLES Along The QLD Coast…Here’s What It Means
Unfortunately, there’s been an increase in the number of sick and injured sea turtles along South East Queensland.
Veterinarians on the Gold Coast have already seen 80 turtles come in for treatment, with many suffering from floating syndrome.
A condition where turtles become buoyant and unable to dive due to the gastrointestinal tract becoming blocked from debris.
Therefore, plastic pollution and sediment run-off are likely key factors for the increase in sick turtles.
