⌚ These KOALAS Are Now Sporting HIGH-TECH Watches To Help Improve Monitoring ⌚
Happy News! DAINTREE National Park Has Been RETURNED To Its TRADITIONAL OWNERS
Koalas are currently being monitored more than ever since the devastating fires to ensure their recovery is successful and numbers steadily return.
That’s why 40 koalas at Cleland Wildlife Park in the Adelaide Hills have been equipped with Fitbits to monitor their heartrate when in the presence of a drone.
Drones are typically used to monitor koala numbers, however, researchers are unsure of just how non-invasive this technique really is. The Fitbits will therefore help determine just how stressful these drones can be on the koalas and whether we need new solutions for protecting, monitoring and studying these marsupials.
